The formation of highly active and stable acetylene hydrochlorination catalysts is great industrial importance. successful replacement the toxic mercuric chloride catalyst with gold has led to a flurry research in this area. One key aspect, which commercialization use thiosulphate as stabilizing ligand. This study investigates range sulfur containing compounds promoters for production Au/C catalysts. Promotion observed across metal sulfates, non‐metal sulfuric acid treatments. enhancement can be optimized by careful consideration either pre‐ or post‐treatments, concentration dopants used, modification washing steps. Pre‐treatment carbon support (0.76 m) resulted most series an conversion ≈70% at 200 °C.
